Is the following phrase correct?

Hi, is the following expression "I showed my guests about town." correct and common? If not, is there a more natural way of saying that I had guests and went sight-seeing with them in my town? Thank you very much!

Yes, that sounds good to me

You could also say "I showed my guests around town"

In fact your sentence is more stylish because the phrase "Man about town" means someone who really knows the places to go in town

"Man about town"..haven't heard of that one before! Thanks. Does it carry a slightly negative connotation, like someone who lives a life in idleness? Or what do you mean by "stylish"?

Hi

When I said stylish, I meant two things..

It's a stylish use of English because it echoes another English phrase - you're not just saying "I showed them about town" but you're also suggesting that you you know your way "about town" (you know the places to go to)

Also, I meant that a "man about town" would dress smartly and go to smart places
