Is the expression "The time feels right" correct?

I'm trying to get to know this forum and I like it so much!

I would like to know if the expression "the time feels right" is correct.. does it mean that a particular moment is right to do something? 

For example I would use it in this way
"I've waited for long and finally the time felt right"

  • The tenses are a bit wonky though, and "for long" isn't right.
