I have found somewhere on the net the explanation below, but I don't really agree with it because to say "we use these questions and yes-answers" is not true. They are just examples. Of course, we can use others and not just them.
To indicate that this is the physical appearance of a person, a thing, or an animal, we use these questions and yes-answers.
1. Is the house big? Yes, it is.
2. Is the cat beautiful? Yes, it is.
3. Is the woman beautiful? Yes, she is.
4. Is the boy happy? Yes, he is.
It will be better or at least more accurate to use more than one adjective in the questions, but these are just simple examples.
I know it means the same but, to me, this one sounds a bit better. What do you think?
