Is the end of this sentence correct and make sense, or any suggestions to make it better?
The only way that Palin would escape death at the hands of the Dark Knights would be if he could convince the Conclave of Wizards to open the Portal to the Abyss so that the evil goddess Takhisis could enter Krynn, which was a ransom that he knew to be impossible to fulfill.
