Is the end of the second sentence properly worded?

While the combined army marched toward Thorbardin, Fistandantilus used the hostile emotions of both the plainsmen and the Neidar to continue to fuel the war. However, the archmage planned on abandoning his forces to journey to the fortress of Zhaman, which was his true goal.
