"I think I made a mistake by deciding to study IT'" is more appropriate don't you think?
or
"The decision to study IT was not the right move for me"

however, I suspect if your sentence purports the intended idea/serves its purpose? You probably wanted to signify that IT, for you, was a bad decision for higher studies correct?

Not only have you
1.meant that you were "mistaken" - which means, in this (your) context, that you were "mistaken", in "misinterpreted" by one or more people ("at the time you made" your decision),

You have also
2. written about two entirely different contexts and have not connected them well (or at all).

This is how:
"study" relates to "academic" pursuit
whereas
"manager" or "agent" relates to 'career" pursuit.

So not only is it grammatically incorrect, but also technically wrong.

The sentences atop here could be chosen from, to ammend grammar, but for your premise to make sense, you need to alter the context.

To shine more light, "you can be what you want to be, regardless of what you study" because you can still "decide to study event management or tourism" even after you graduate IT right?

So "one of" what you have studied doesn't determine your career decision.

This is one way for you to write the sentence:

"I think I made a mistake by deciding to be a software engineer. Now I want to be an event manager or travel agent>"

Or

"I think I made a mistake by deciding to study IT. Now I want to have studied event management or tourism because my career goals have changed"

Stick to the coordinating the contexts. Also, you could remove the period and insert an "and", making it one continuous sentence/idea with no confusing break. This way, the thought or expression will flow better.
