Is "That" A Conjunction?

  • "I honestly was bracing for this to be a really depressing episode that ended with Niina betraying Kazusa but I am so glad that apart from Niina reconciling with Kazusa, this episode was able to turn such a painful moment into so many beautiful ones by the end. That is an absolute credit to the writing that as I write this I am simultaneously so emotionally hurt and raw and yet also extremely happy and on the verge of tear."

The underlined "that" seems to be a conjunction. Is that a sort of that as in so that constructions? In other words, Is it right that the underlined "that" is licensed by the absolute that modifies credit?

"that as I write this ... verge of tears" is a that-clause. The word "that" is traditionally termed a conjunction. The use of "that" has nothing particularly to do with the word "absolute". You can just as well say "It is a credit that ...".
