Is "tension" appropriate here?

Hi. Is this written OK? Is "tension" the word you would use?

Arnold extends a hand, but Bart refuses to shake it. Offended, Arnold glares at him. Bart glares back. And while all focus is on the tension between the two of them, no one in the room seems to have noticed that someone is hiding behind the curtain.
