IS SUMMERHILL AN IDEAL SCHOOL?

In recent years, education is one of the most important things that draw the attention of the government. Slight changes in the education system will cause controversy, however, these changes are always toward the purpose of giving students the best and most quality learning experience. Therefore, in 1921, Summerhill was established by A.S Neil. This school was run by the rules that the students' freedom and happiness was the most prerequisite so it became famous and was an ideal school through people's eyes and so do I.

First of all, Summerhill school has become a dream school for numerous students because it allows pupils freedom and helps them to develop their self-motivation. For instance, children can easily spend more time on developing their skills such as imaginations, communication and other skills that are needed for their adulthood. However, this school also has a countersign that “Freedom, not licence” means that everyone has the right to freedom, but that freedom must be within the framework. So in many cases, if they disturb or affect others, then all their actions will be prohibited. Another reason why Summerhill is an ideal school is that it has a great interest in human rights in order to improve all skills and help children to fully develop psychology. Pupils have the freedom to decide whether or not they go to class and choose their favorite subjects. Although they do not go to classes that they do not enjoy, they can become mature and responsible without being taught moral values through their experience and other school’s activities.

Besides the good sides, the school also has its limitations. However, existing limitations can be overcome and changed to be better and better, suitable with school standards and educational institutions. Therefore, I strongly believe that Summerhill school is a worthy school for students to come here to study and experience.
