Is "study" the right word in this sentence?

Hi,

Is "study" the correct word in the below sentence?

The study of rat liver tissue showed that glutathione level decreased during the light cycle and increased during the dark cycle, but the MDA level showed an opposite result.

Any other corrections needed?
