Is something missing in this sentence?

Hi guys
I have been asked to help to translate this sentence into Russian. I feel like something is wrong with it.Here is the sentence:

This story for men who speak kind words, but can't be trusted when their frends backs are turned.

I think that it should be either "This is a story for men" or "This story is for men". Please, tell me if I am on the right track. Also I don't feel confident as to what is difference between these two.
