Is said to have

Is the first sentence natural? Do both mean the same thing? What does the first sentence mean?

She is said to have died Saturday.

She reportedly died Saturday.

Both are correct. #2 suggests a little bit that you got the information from a source with some kind of authority, eg a newspaper. #1 sounds a little formal.

I usually say, hear and read "on Saturday".
