Better "You must memorize the lyrics of "The Star-Spangled Banner." (Put song titles in quotes. Don't italicize. Certainly don't quote and italicize.)

I don't know why anybody needs to memorize the lyrics. Americans don't.

I agree with you there, but I think italics are acceptable.

Sorry, I should say pick your manual of style (or have it thrust upon you). Then stick with it for the duration.

I put albums (Gawd! How old am I?) in italics and constituent titles in quotes.

Not that old - I bought a new one only yesterday. Really!

Mind you, it was a compilation of some Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli numbers originally recorded in 1938, 1939 and 1946.
