Is "even though" a transition?

can "even though" be interchangeably used with "even so" "nonetheless" nevertheless" etc?

Hello Seyfihoca 'Even though' = intensifier + conjunction, and means 'despite the fact that': 1. Even though the train was late, I got to work on time. 'Even so', 'nevertheless', and 'nonetheless' are adverbs, and mean 'despite that': 2.

To be really honest with you, I`ve been studying English for such a while and I haven`t heard it`s right , according to the grammar, start a phrase with "even though". Is it ? I thought it`s right to say "although, which is the same, a synonym.

although I`m writing this , I`m not thoroughly sure whether I`m right or not !

Hello Bruno

I don't know of any reason why 'even though' shouldn't start a sentence; but I'd be interested to hear about any prohibitions, if you can track them down.

Hello MrP

do you mean we can use "even though" in place of "however" in this sentence?
p.s.: no change in punctuation

Education is one of the basic human rights, however, it is also well known that education is too expensive and services are limited for many societies around the world.

Hello Seyfihoca

There is a slight problem with the sentence as it stands, because the punctuation is incorrect. You need to say:

1. 'Education is one of the basic human rights; however, it is also well known that education is too expensive and services are limited for many societies around the world.'

The structure here is: 'X is true, but Y is also true, and Y rest

so, is it possible to use "even though" between commas, that is,

SVO ;even though, SVO

Hello Seyfihoca

I can't think of an example that would fit the structure [SVO; even though, SVO].

'Even though' is a conjunction, so has to be part of its ***. Your other 3 terms would fit, though.

MrP
*It can be separated from its clause by a parenthesis: [SVO, even though (XYZ) SVO].

what is the difference between although and even though?

"although" is an adverb, "even though" a conjunction.
