Is ‘pull an all-nighter' really an expression in English?

I’ve heard somebody say ‘pull an all-nighter,’ but I really don’t understand what she means. Is it really an expression in English?

Even though you may be tempted to pull an all-nighter to study for an examination until 3 a.m., make sure that you do not make it habitual.
