Is phrase "the gangsters had him fix" correct?

I was writing a sentence that caused me a question.

The young man did almost everything on his bed. He worked in some weapons the gangsters had him fix, he slept on junks and also in his clothes.

I've never seen this phrasal verb.
the gangsters asked him to fix - The common one

the gangsters had him fix - I intend to use this one (but I don't know if is right)

Thank you, guys.

, and "junk" is a mass noun. "Had him fix" suggests that the weapons were already fixed when he worked on them, which is nonsense.

You meant "worked on", of course., and "junk" is a mass noun. "Had him fix" suggests that the weapons were already fixed when he worked on them, which is nonsense.
