Is or was

Hello everyone,

Could you please tell me if the auxiliary verb "is" is possible in the following sentence?

- Grade 11 is the time when I decided my future career.

Note/ I kow that "was" is OK in the place of "is", but I wanted to know if "is" also possible. Could you please help me?
