Is or Was

Hi!

I have a question.

Ok, I know if i say "he was stupid" (just some random example ^^) means that he was stupid then, but not now.

But if i say "he was killed" (another random example ^^), does that mean that he was killed then, but not now?

Thanks for the reply, Mister Micawber.

So it should be 'is' or 'was' for the second example?

Sorry, i'll give a better example.

Jason is/was killed in a car crash.

Jason is killed in a car crash.-- present narrative

Jason was killed in a car crash.-- past event

"Jason was dead". Does that mean that he's alive now?

No. It says nothing about his present condition, but you might try using common sense.

so am i right to say that "am, is, are, was, were" changes the meaning of adjectives?

whereas "am, is, are, was, were" have no effect on verbs?
