Is or are with plural noun?

Could someone please settle an argument? Is the correct sentence:

One of the sellers is the trustees of XYZ.

One of the sellers are the trustees of XYZ.

I would prefer the singular (is) - to emphaize that "trustees" is a group acting as a single entity.
