“Is” or “Are”?

A sign at work reads, “Comfort and cleanliness is our expectation.” Is this correct? One of my colleagues thinks it should be “Comfort and cleanliness are our expectation.”

Is it:

“Postage and handling is or are included.”

“Shipping and handling is or are included.”

Thanks.

Hi. Please help. My question doesn't deal with the thread topic, but with your sentence in your response. Is it incorrect to put the definite article before the word "examples" in your sentence in that it would cause the sentence to have a different meaning? Thank you for your help in advance.

The above (sentences) are examples of that fact the subject-verb agreement is sometimes flexible.
