Is or are?

Hello,
I have a question concerning following sentences:
The thing that particularly catches my attention is/are the eyes of the woman who is having her photo taken.
My biggest concern is/are my children.
I think 'is' is the correct answer...i am not sure, though.
I would be grateful if you would help me.
Best regards.
