"is" or "are"?

Hi,
Can you tell me if Tuesday or Wednesday is/are possible? Which verb(s) is/are correct?

Does the addition of "either" make a difference?
Can you tell me if either Tuesday or Wednesday is/are available?

Thanks, - A. Emotion: smile

With 'or', 'is' is correct grammar, with the verb number dependent on the number of the noun closest to it. Nevertheless, you will hear 'are'– especially without the 'either'– spoken.

Hi,

It is "Can you tell me if Tuesday or Wednesday is possible?"
I would break it up if I had a doubt...
Can you tell me if Tuesday is possible?
or
Is Wednesday possible?

Many thanks, MrM and Ashwitha.

I was inclined toward "is," but my instincts have been letting me down lately. Emotion: smile - A.
