Is neither... a negative statement?

Hi everyone.

In this pair of sentences:

He doesn't like sausages. Neither do I.

Would you say that "neither do I" is an affirmative statement, or a negative one.

I'm tempted to say "negative" because i'm assuming "neither" means "not either."

but would this stand up in court do you think?

agreements/refutations welcome!

I mean in terms of "I hate you" is an affirmative statement. "I don't hate you" is a negative statement.
Not in the sense of whether the meaning is positive or negative.

Would "neither do I" be classed as an "affirmative" or "negative" statement?
