Biology is amazing. We get to know how each organism lives, eat, excrete. It is a study of life and virtually related to chemistry and some physics.
When it comes to learning biology at school. Things dramatically changed because it is about memorising molecular compounds, substances etc...
To the extent that biology is about memorising molecular names, most compound names are sophisticated--like millions of suffixes and prefixes bundled together, creating a massive lengthy word that we cannot spell and pronounce them either. for instance, Adenosine triphosphate but if we know some word roots, we can get by.
Word decoding is vital when learning biology because diving words into chunks can dial down the difficulty of memorising vocabularies.
Classroom biology and biology are not the same. You only need to memorise exotic names when you are taking an exam which is the classroom biology.
