Is my sentence using 'empowered' and empowerment' acceptable? Can I use interchangeably the phrases enclosed in the parenthesis?

Is my sentence using 'empowered' and empowerment' acceptable? Can I use interchangeably the phrases 'making her feel empowered or superior' and 'giving her a feeling of empowerment or superiority' enclosed in the parenthesis?


Mr. Miller allowed her daughter to repeatedly hurt other people, thereby (making her feel empowered or superior, giving her a feeling of empowerment or superiority).
