Is my sentence correctly spelled?

I do have certificates but I know that nothing compares to hands-on experience. I just provided them so that you are able to see that I am constantly trying to keep myself up to date with the current job market.

I reworded it, like so: I ocassionally take online courses to keep myself up to date in terms of technology. Although I'm convinced these certificates don't equal with real hands-on experience, I believe they show my passion and effort toward the industry. Does this sound better?
