Is my sentence correct?

One who works hard and lives a day is more valuable than one who is lazy and lives a hundred years.

It is correct and meaningful, but in my view does not work well to illustrate the message because of the huge disparity between 'a day' and 'a hundred years'. It works better with say a day and a fortnight, or a year and a decade. Not that I necessarily agree with the sentiment either!

It's correct. It's especially meaningful when applied to other people rather than to oneself.
