I would write "I was indeed unaware of the ongoing discussion about the issue yesterday. "

I would certainly add a determiner for 'discussion', perhaps 'any'.
Where I live "actually" is more common than "indeed".

So I'd say it like this:

Actually, I was not aware of any ongoing discussion about the issue yesterday.
