Is my quotation ok?

I'm not a native English speaker. I felt like writing a quotation.

"I care not where I am, as long as what I do has meaning"

..I am new to clauses and all that stuff. I am convinced that they are two "independent clauses", that's why I have added a comma. Also, I have excluded "indefinite article" in front of "meaning" to emphasize the profoundness.

or would it be better like this...

"I care not where I am as long as what I do has a meaning"

You can't coin a quotation. Maybe you mean aphorism. The conjunction "as long as" is like "if", making the second clause subordinate.
