Is "long-suffering" a synonym for "selfless" ?

I am writing an essay on The Odyssey, and I am explaining how Penelope is a foil to Calypso. I've decided to use "selfish" to describe Calypso, and I feel that "long- suffering" would better to describe Penelope than "selfless". However I'm not sure if long-suffering could be used as an antonym for selfish.
Please help me out Emotion: smile

Thank you!

No, it's not. Here is the definition of "long-suffering":
"Patiently enduring wrongs or difficulties."
Clearly this is not the opposite of "selfish."
