is leaps ahead of the rabbit ?

Hello everyone,

I came across a sentence below while I read a book about insects' lives.

I don't understand what it means, especially the part of "is leaps ahead of the rabbit."

Could you tell me what it means?

Thank you!

ex) The common aphid is leaps ahead of the rabbit when it comes to being able to reproduce fast.

If you took one female aphid, counted her young and their young and kept counting, in just seven months she would have 100,000,000,000,000 living descendants.

Right, "The common aphid is (many) leaps ahead of the rabbit, when it comes to being able to reproduce fast" means that the aphid is much, much more efficient in reproducing than the rabbit, which is commonly considered as an extremely fast lover!
