Is it wrong to say "the sides" instead of "its sides"?

(1a) The new cabinet over there has scratches on all the sides. I'm wondering who damaged it. (my version)

My non-native English speaking friends think "all the sides" is wrong, so they have revised it to make (1b).

(1b) The new cabinet over there has scratches on all its sides. I'm wondering who damaged it.

Is "all the sides" really wrong? Thank you very much for your help.
