Is it well written in English ?

Can you tell me is this text is well written in English?

The person who wrote the article wants to work as a writer on the blog.

When you have such a huge project on the road, and, let me get this straight right away: the upcoming J.J. Abrams' “Star Trek” sequel is one of those projects for sure, then you probaly expect to hear some big name will come on board to play some great character. At least, I do, so I'm really happy to hear my favourite, Benicio Del Toro has been offered the villain-role in this spectacle.

And yes, it has to be the spectacle. After all, we're talking about a sequel to Abrams’ well-known 2009 film. Unfortunately, still no official title, but who cares when we know that writers Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and Damon Lindelof are responsible for the script again. The only thing that's missing now are the details for that villain role I'm interested in. If Del Toro accepts the offer, he will come on board to play... who, for God's sake? Don't give me that “mysterious, currently unnamed, villain” thing, I'm really not satisfied with that description. Just say it - is it Khan? Or the meanest one of the original Klingons?

But no, at this moment, still no answer. The only thing we know is that Del Toro has indeed met with Abrams but everything else is still a secret. Anyway, I'm glad we're talking about the project with such a great cast involved, and I'm sure that Chris Pine, Zoe Saldana, Anton Yelchin, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg and John Cho sounds good to you.

Production will start in early 2012, no release date has been announced, and for all other details on “Star Trek” sequel, stay with us! If you have any idea who Del Toro should play, go ahead, share your big major thoughts with us!
Thank you in advance !

  • I would have said "other details on the “Star Trek” sequel " not "other details on “Star Trek” sequel" It's possible the author was going for effect or they could just be oversights, it's impossible to say without seeing more of his/her work (of course, since you are apparently in contact with the author, you could always ask).

I have only two quibbles:

1. I would have written "And yes, it has to be a spectacle." instead of "And yes, it has to be the spectacle."

Running spell check before submitting a writing sample to audition as an author seems wise. "Probaly"? Combined with the missing "the" noted by MalRay my assessment is that the person is not careful in their writing.

There are also numerous comma splices. That always make me crazy.

However, it's up to you if you like that style of writing.
