Is it search, that/which searchs, or searching?

Hi teachers,

The structure baffles me.

Excerpts:

When Nancy upton entered American Apparel's "Next BIG Thing" search for a plus-size model, her goal was to mockingly protest the company.

Why isn't "that searches" or maybe "searching"?
