Is it search, that/which searchs, or searching?

Hi teachers,

The structure baffles me.

Excerpts:

When Nancy upton entered American Apparel's "Next BIG Thing" search for a plus-size model, her goal was to mockingly protest the company.

Why isn't "that searches" or maybe "searching"?

Thanks

Hi Mister Micawber,

Thank you for answering the question. Does "which searches" or "searching" work?
