Is it right to use "teach", "to pronounce words" and "school teacher"?

It makes me cringe when my school English teacher teaches students to pronounce words. She get them all wrong. That's why you shouldn't hire a non-native teacher to teach English. LIterary becomes liteRAry. Poor innocent students.

Is it "pronounce words" or "pronunciation"? Which one is more appropriate? Can both be used?
