Is it right?

L: I was phoning you at about 9 o'clock but you didn't answer. What was you doing?
M: Well, I was hearing the phone but I was having a shower and I couldn't get out in time to answer it. Anyway, what did you want?
L: Well. last night I was clearing out that old desk you gave me when I came across a pile of old letters with a red ribbon round them.
M: My letter?
L: Yes, they were addressed to you. And they were all smelled of perfume, a man's perfume.

As an American, I'd say I was "in the shower" or that I was "taking a shower" rather than "having a shower."

Also, in my experience, we talk about men's cologne, and women's perfume.
