Is it proper?

I really need to know if it´s proper to say anyways? or anyway?...A Grammar teacher told me that the CORRECT form is ANYWAYS..but then another one...tells me that anyways is totally WRONG!!! so...what´sthe best way, and the proper way..according to grammar rules????

i would say anyways is not right anyway is the british version . anyways american ' the day didn't go very well anyway , so i went home' 'i don't need to be fed, i had some lunch anyway'

anyways is not right
anyway is the british version . anyways american
