Man: It is the best steak in town.
Woman: Is it?
1. I was wondering if the woman's reply in the above exchange is usually the quick remark/response to what someone has just said. Is this common in spoken English?
2. Does the woman's reply above have the same meaning as saying "really?"
3. Also, I've read about tag questions in English, which normally negate what one has stated, but I wonder if this also applies in this type of exchange. If so, it will be as follows, but is this natural?
