Is it okay if I use 'while' here?

if a person uses a toothpick, the person has to use it while hiding it with hands because it does not look good and sometimes makes other people uncomfortable.

and is this sentence is right?

it is better to adjust how fast you eat to that of other people.

and do I have to use 'the' in bold?
if people follow the table manners that I mentioned above when they have a meal with a Korean, there will be no embarrassing situations that happen because of ignorance about the Confucian culture
