It should be written: I am fourteen, and I am in the 8th grade. Emotion: wink

You can certainly write "I am 14" -- generally numbers of ten can be written in numerals and numbers under ten written in words.

She is six.
He is 14.

(You can add "years old" but most people would understand that you mean that, so you can omit it too.)
