Is it necessary to write 'to Adam' at the end

Hi teachers,
The context:
After a minute or two Felix said, Did Dinon murder the President? What do you think, Adam?
Well, why did they put him in prison, then?
My question: Is it necessary or optional to write 'to Adam' at the end?
Was Felix completely sure that Dinon killed the President? Explain your answer.
No he wasn’t. He said he did his job and (he) didn’t ask questions (to Adam).

Thanks in advance.

1. You have omitted some of the text you are asking about. You haven't included anything about Felix saying he did his job.

2. "ask" never occurs with a to-phrase. You need one of these, depending whether you want to mention Adam or not.

Oops! So sorry.

OK. I still think something is messed up here. How does "to Adam" come into it? Adam said, "I don't ask questions". He didn't say "I don't ask questions" to Adam. That way he is talking to himself!

Hi Jim,
This is the intended text:

Well, why did they put him in prison, then?
That doesn’t answer my question, Felix said.
I do my job, Adam said, and I don’t ask questions.
Felix looked at him, but said

It is neither necessary nor optional. It is forbidden!

The correct form is as follows, and in the correct form "Adam" is optional.

He asked (Adam) if Dinon had killed the president.
