Is it madatory to use "then" in if sentences?

If he never get what he want in a few moments, then he will run away from you.
If you want to get through this test, then you attend the classes regularly.

I am afraid there isn't any "trick" I can offer you for the use of "then", nor do I think English can be obtained by formula.
We have to grasp the meanings before we can use certain word. "Then" means "at that moment/ time", or "after that".
