Is it incorrect to write ...

Hello, Is it incorrect to write:
Have you seen the pair of scissors anywhere? I can't find it.

instead of:
Have you seen the scissors anywhere? I can't find them.

Does the second sentence mean more then one?
Thanks in advance

The second sentence is also correct because the noun, "scissors" is both singular and plural in construction. It's similar to the word, "deer," where one deer is a "deer" and more than one deer are also "deer."

You may hear one person say "I had a scissor," while another will say, "I had a scissors.
