Is it incorrect to use they instead of she and he in a sentence?

For example,
"You should not become familiar with a candidate by looking through their Facebook or Twitter because these outlets might not reflect who they are as a worker"

Technically, yes, it's incorrect. I try to avoid the "one's/his-her" problem by starting out with the plural: You should not become familiar with candidate s by looking through their Face.......
