is it Has or As

my own experience of life has always been that has one doorway has been passed through; another doorway of opportunity opens to us, brining new experiences and challenges our way.

CAN ANYONE PLEASE CHECK THE ABOVE SENTENCE. I HAVE TROUBLE WITH HAS AND AS - any help would be appreciated

"As" equals "when" in this case.

When/as one door closes, another opens.
