Grammar

Is it grammatically correct?

Can we say people with a higher social status or higher status without any article?
I found in the dictionary that status can be both singular and plural.
Thanks in advance

Firstly, what is most accepted these days as the plural of status is 'statuses', with the use of 'status' as also the plural now rare. A person has status in a community. A person has/may have high status in a community.

Hi,

Yes, you can say it both ways, although it rather depends on the specific sentence and context.

I've never been asked this kind of question about 'status' before. We toss off reference to 'status' without really thinking about it.
I've suddenly realized, I'm wrong. There is no such thing as 'a status'. 'status' is 'the standing a person has in a community'.

It should be: With two people, one of them has higher status.

errata:
The sentence should be:
This is similar to when people say, "I don't mix with the hoi polloi". It used to be, in my day, "I don't mix with hoi polloi."

and 'noways' should be 'nowadays'.

Ok, I see. So I can say both a high status and high status without any article?
Thank you for your help.

How about this sentence?
What should I say?

People with a higher status usually go to the theatre more frequently or without any article? What would you advise?
