Is it correct to say “Ready to go but never to return the same”?

My brother is going to another town (250 km away) for job, and I think a new life is starting for him. He won’t be able to spend time with me as before. A sentence came to my mind, he is in a day or two,

> Ready to go but never to return the same

Is that “the same” quote correct there? Can you give your poetical/philosophical sentence (as short as mine) for such purpose? (Of course, I don’t mean to steal your phrase, I need only to improve my language skills).
