is it correct to say "it's been three Saturdays"?

in 2015 college entrance exam, Sichuan Province, China, there is a sentence like this:

I have made three friends at school..... we have been spending a lot of time singing in karaoke bars. it's been three Saturdays now.

Can any grammar gurus tell me if this is a legitimate use of perfect present tense. thanks a lot in advance.
