is it correct to say goodnight???

Hi guys,

sorry I'm just asking a lotEmotion: embarrassed

but I have a problem when I meet some body at night. in the morning I say good morning, and during the afternoon I say good afternoon, but at noon and at night, is correct to say good noon, and good night when I'm just starting a conversation or greeting some one.( I know when I'm leaving I can good night but waht to say after enterring???Emotion: crying

Good noon isn't used in AmE at least. Good evening is a nighttime greeting.

Good noon doesn't exist, but as it only happens for the merest fraction of time, it doesn't matter. Just switch to good afternoon as soon as it's 12 o'clock.

Good night is never used as a greeting. Good evening is the one. Good night would be the equivalent of good bye, but you are better off just saying goodbye, even at night time.

is used IMO as a more as a wish to someone when parting for the night, than as a greeting
