Is it correct to repeat for?

The police had been looking for the snatch thief for the past two weeks. Rupert was the snatch thief.

I have joined the sentence as follows.

Rupert, whom the police had been looking for for the past two weeks, was the snatch thief.

Is it correct to repeat for?

Thanks.

Shouldn't we say '****** er ' or 'thief' instead of '****** thief' ? Because I think '******' isn't an adjective which is qualifying or describing the 'thief'. Besides, 'snatcher' and 'thief' are used in different contexts, think think.
